Having a website is great for your business. It can help you increase sales and profits. Having a website you cannot update yourself is not great! Before having a website designed for your business you need to ask yourself two things. Is my website content going to change? Can I update the website myself?
If you answered yes to one of the questions above, you should make sure your new website has a CMS. A CMS stands for content management system. The CMS allows users that are not experienced with html or web coding to update and maintain the website without having to contact your designer or developer.
Having a CMS can make updating and adding pages to your website easy and fast! What it does is supplys you with a back end administrator area where you can login from any web browser. Once logged in you can easily use the graphical user interface and navigate to any page of your site that needs changes or updates. Every CMS we build includes an easy to use interface. Its just like using a word document program. You will have your text, add pics, fonts and sizes.
Once you edit your page in the CMS all you do is hit save and the website makes the changes live. You can even add more pages to your site without having your developer create and code more pages for you.
In short having a CMS is a great way of keeping updated content on your website without having to pay extra every time. If you decide to go with a CMS make sure your designer or developer is using a well known platform that has been around a while. Some CMS can have bugs and dont have all the features you will want to keep up with the ever changing world wide web!
